Kaisan Kisharie

開山忌舎利会

This ceremony is held annually in June at World Heritage Toshodaiji Temple to commemorate the passing of its founder. The various rites and rituals are intended to help participants recollect the virtue that brought their temple into being over 1200 years ago. Buddhist Sutra chanting by dozens of robed monks, incense, and the grand and solemn ceremony atmosphere offer a peak into another world.
