As Nara’s only restaurant with three Michelin stars, this is a must-visit for gourmets. Chef Nobuhiro Yamamura originally wanted to specialize in French haute cuisine, but realized his strength lay in traditional kaiseki style. The appearance of the restaurant is quite humble, though the tableware was created especially for the restaurant by a local ceramicist. The courses are surprisingly affordable for such fine cuisine, starting from around ¥6,000. The chef and his staff are very friendly and some can speak English. There is also an English menu available. Reservations are recommended.
