Nara: Sacred Images From Early Japan - The British Museum

This month, a very special exhibition opens in London at The British Museum, featuring fifteen major Buddhist and Shinto pieces from Nara. As part of a cultural exchange leading up to the Olympic and Paralympic Games in 2020, this is a rare chance for the people from all over the world to see these ancient treasures, which have never been outside Japan before.
Dating from seventh to fourteenth centuries, these precious pieces have been loaned by shrines and temples in Nara, including Kasuga Taisha Shrine, Horyuji Temple and Toshodaiji Temple, showing the harmonious development of Shinto and Buddhist art over 700 years.
The exhibition runs from October 3 to November 24.
