Local brush maker Chiyomi Tanaka hand makes calligraphy brushes from natural materials in her family’s store. You can also experience making your own brush, carving the handle to the right size, applying and trimming the hairs to make one exactly the right size for you. The whole process takes between 30 minutes to one hour, depending on the type of brush you make. At the end, you will have a personalized souvenir.
