Popular with Shugendo pilgrims in summer, this traditional family-run ryokan is welcoming and atmospheric. The whole area is famous for herbal medicine designed to aid digestion on long mountain hikes, and you can buy it at the hotel. On weekdays, it is possible to reserve the outdoor onsen for private use. Meals are served in-room, and include wild boar hot pot in winter. In summertime, guests can relax on the verandas which open to the main street, while enjoying seasonal fruits in a unique “green tea fondue”.
