Since the 1930s, Naramachi has been a center of mosquito net production. While modern houses and screen windows have diminished the need for traditional nets, the finely woven cloth made of cotton or rayon has found new uses, including summer curtains and table linens. Working with young illustrators and artists, the re-purposed textiles are printed with stylish, slightly whimsical Nara motifs and make good souvenirs. The store is designed like a gallery with natural finishes and rough-hewn wooden furniture. Take a break from shopping with a coffee or cool drink in the garden cafe.
