Matsuo-dera Temple
松尾寺
High in the hills above Horyuji Temple, the grounds are beautiful in autumn, with views over Ikaruga Shrine. The temple is said to ward off evil, and there is a large bell to strike to pray for better luck in relationships. In spring, cherry blossoms frame the small pagoda behind the main hall. The easiest access is by taxi while the trail through the forest back down to Horyuji makes for a pleasant walk.
